Famous sights and typical way of life
After six days of turbulent carnival, we invite you to the capital of France. On this journey, you will enjoy the atmosphere of a world metropolis and the typical ‘Savoir vivre’ that makes the french so adorable. You visit famous sights and walk through Montmartre. The ‘old’ Paris can be found in one of the numerous country inns and popular dance halls, the so-called ‘Guinguettes’, situated on the banks of the Marne and the Seine.
Day 1: Tuesday Journey Cologne - Paris
Getting to Paris: In the morning you travel first class by train (Thalys) from Cologne to Paris. Once there, our guide invites you to a 2-hour city tour in Paris. Afterwords we move into your Hotel Mercure Tour Eiffel Grenelle, located in the heart of Paris, within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero and the Champs de Mars. In the evening enjoy dinner together in the hotel and overnight stay.Â
2nd day: Wednesday city tour Paris, boat trip on the Seine and Versailles
After breakfast, your tour guide will escort you to the well-known attractions of Paris, such as the Tour Eiffel, Notre Dame or the Arc de Triumph. Around noon, you will end this cruise with a boat trip on the Seine.
In addition to its famous buildings and neighborhoods, the French metropolis enchants with its parks and gardens. The afternoon will be dedicated to Versailles, the castle of the Sun King Louis XIV and the symbol of absolutism. The huge castle park created by Le Nôtre is worth a visit. Take the evening individually for a visit to a typical Parisian brasseries or a stroll on the big boulevards.
Day 3: Thursday Montmartre, perfume museum Fragonard, free time and possibility to visit a Paris Guinguette
This morning you will discover Montmartre, the ‘Butte’, the municipality with the highest natural elevation in the north of the city. Accompanied by a tour guide you stroll among other things too Rue Lepic, where Vincent van Gogh spent two years with his brother and painted over 200 paintings. Today it is one of the main streets of this district, lined with countless shops.
We round off this morning with a visit to the Parisian perfume museum Fragonard. Who does not know Dior, Channel, Guerlain and Fragonard, just to name a few.
The afternoon is at your disposal for individual exploration. Maybe you are interested in the ‘new Paris’ or would like to visit one of the famous museums. The atmosphere of former Parisian can be found in one of the numerous country inns and folk dance halls along the banks of the Marne and the Seine. We will gladly reserve a dinner for you in the evening in such a ‘Guinguette’, Occasionally accompanied by accordion music and dance. An evening of relaxation and joie de vivre awaits you.
4th day: Friday The glassy passages - free time
Among the most mysterious treasures of old Paris are the hidden glass passages around the Palais Royal, where passers-by took refuge in the first half of the 19th century from hackers and riders and who have remained true islands of silence to this day , Glass-covered, marble-paneled inner corridors run through entire blocks. They are witnesses of a past Parisian way of life. Enjoy this unique atmosphere in the morning with a guided walk. In the afternoon you will have time to gather your own impressions: Stroll in the luxury department stores not far from the Opera, marvel at the famous wax figures in the nearby Musée Grévin, be inspired by a visit to the Louvre or relax on a boat trip on the Seine. In the heart of Montmartre we invite you in the evening to the restaurant ‘La Crémaillère’ from 1900 for A 3-course menu accompanied by vocals and accordion music, in the style of Monmartrois.
5th day: departure after breakfast
After breakfast, you will return home with beautiful memories in your luggage. Transfer to Charles de Gaules airport.
